Avignon River Shuttle
The former ferry in Avignon that allowed crossing the river has been replaced by a beautiful river shuttle from the company « Les Grands Bateaux de Provence. »
The crossing service is still free of charge.
The Avignon river shuttle connects the island of Barthelasse to the Quai de la Ligne, located at the foot of the Rocher des Doms.
Boarding can be done on foot or by bicycle. The shuttle is accessible to people with reduced mobility, but boarding with a wheelchair requires the presence of an accompanying person.
The connections between the two banks of the Rhône are available daily from early April to the end of September. From early October to late December, and from mid-February to the end of March, the shuttle resumes service on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
The river shuttle service is suspended in January and during the first two weeks of February.
Crossing the Rhône by boat is a practical and quick way to reach the opposite bank and continue your walk along the towpath, but it’s also an opportunity to enjoy a pleasant ride on the water—a mini-cruise offering an unbeatable view of the famous Saint-Bénézet Bridge.
